Professional Teeth Whitening

Tooth discolouration is one of the most common reasons why patients seek cosmetic dentistry treatment. Most people desire a clean, white smile. Also, having teeth that look yellow, dark or dull can affect a person's sense of self-image.

Fortunately, you no longer have to live with a dull or less-than-radiant set of teeth. Urban Dental Studio offers professional in-office and take-home teeth whitening in Auckland and all surrounding areas.

Teeth whitening treatment at Urban Dental Studio is effective, safe and long-lasting. We only use clinically proven products to provide optimal results to our patients. Depending on what approach best suits you, we will develop a plan to help you attain a whiter, brighter smile.

Common Reason for Tooth Discoloration

People can develop stains and discolouration on their teeth for several reasons. Sometimes, discolouration appears on the tooth's outer layers (extrinsic), while other times, it can form inside the tooth (intrinsic).

Common reasons for extrinsic and intrinsic dental stains include:

  • Aging
  • Poor oral hygiene
  • Certain illnesses
  • Genetics
  • Excessive fluoride
  • Dental materials (e.g. restorations containing metal, silver amalgam)
  • Injury or trauma to the tooth
  • Dark-hued foods and drinks (e.g. red wine, coffee and tomato sauce)
  • Smoking and tobacco use
  • Specific medications

Our team is specially trained to determine the origin of a patient's tooth discolouration and suggest the appropriate treatment for ideal results.

The Professional Teeth Whitening Process

Professional teeth whitening, or teeth bleaching, removes stains and lightens teeth. Unlike store-bought teeth whitening products, professional teeth whitening is safe for sensitive teeth and reduces the risk of gum irritation.

Teeth Whitening at Our Dental Clinic

Before applying the office whitening treatment, we make sure the patient is comfortable and at ease.

They then evenly and thoroughly apply the whitening agent to create a bright, harmonious smile. Before applying the whitening gel to the teeth's surfaces, we cover the patient's soft tissues with a barrier. This helps protect the gums from the whitening gel.

The whitening agent seeps into the enamel and dentin layers, dissolving stain-causing molecules. Even after your we rinse the whitener from your teeth, it continues removing stains for up to 24 hours after application.

Professional Teeth Whitening at Home

For at-home whitening, we supply you with an easy-to-use kit and reviews all instructions for safe and practical application. With at-home teeth whitening, patients can attain professional results in the comfort of their own homes.

Patients also use these whitening kits for maintenance and last-minute whitening for special events, like weddings.
