Crowns and Bridges

At Urban Dental Studio, our dentists, Dr Carol and Dr Juliane use aesthetic restorative dentistry to help patients achieve their dream smiles. Among our quality restorations are custom-made dental crowns and bridges.

Our custom-made crowns and bridges are fit for royalty, as we specially crafts each restoration to meet the patient's needs and surpass their highest expectations, because of their durable and lifelike design, custom crowns and bridges look, feel and function just like natural teeth.

What Are Crowns and Bridges?

A dental crown is like a protective hat that fits over a tooth, down to the gum line. We can design a crown to mimic the same hue, size and shape of the surrounding natural teeth.

A crown keeps the natural tooth intact and preserves the tooth's structural integrity and function. A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth and is appropriate for those with remaining teeth in their mouth's upper or lower arches.

Crowns and bridges can help protect a person's oral health because they:

  • Prevent tooth migration
  • Re-establish bite alignment
  • Help maintain facial shape
  • Reduce the risk of decay and gum disease
  • Equally distribute chewing forces
  • Promote clear speech

Ultimately, crowns and bridges can renew a person's teeth and the encompassing oral tissues and bone.

The Versatility of Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a versatile restoration, as it can repair or correct numerous dental concerns. With a dental crown, our dentists can:

  • Cover cracked teeth
  • Conceal discoloured teeth
  • Anchor a dental implant
  • Attach a dental bridge
  • Stabilise a weak tooth
  • Cap worn or sensitive teeth
  • Restore a previously filled tooth
  • Strengthen a brittle tooth
  • Save a tooth from extraction
  • Reform a worn tooth
  • Protect a tooth after root canal therapy

To determine your candidacy for a tooth crown, we will perform a thorough oral health evaluation, review your medical and oral health history and discuss your needs and goals.

Dental Bridges: A Solution to Tooth Loss

A dental bridge may be a viable treatment option if a patient has one or more consecutive missing teeth. A dental bridge fills in the gap left behind by tooth loss. The fixture consists of lifelike prosthetic teeth attached to a base. Some bases are flexible, fixed or removable, depending on the patient's need, location of the tooth loss, potential bone loss and many other factors.

There are several different types of dental bridges, including traditional, cantilever, Maryland and implant-supported. Your dentist will determine which of these is the most appropriate option.

Personalised Crowns and Bridges in Auckland

Our dentists will perform a thorough evaluation and develop a detailed treatment plan that meets your dental needs and achieves your smile goals.

When creating a natural-looking smile, our team pays very close attention to every detail. We uses digital smile design technology to craft each patient's custom restoration. We measure the patient's face, study their facial structures and consider their skin tone, eye colour and more. With all of these details in mind, we can invent an aesthetic and functional one-of-a-kind grin.

We also looks at different characteristics of the patient's teeth, including their size, shade, shape, translucence and texture.

Do You Have a Broken or Missing Tooth?

Crowns and bridges are preferred restorations for many patients. Our personalised crowns and bridges enhance patient comfort, tooth function, retain a person's facial symmetry and much more. Dental implants are a replacement option for a missing tooth and a dental crown would restore a dental implant.

Our highly trained dental team can take care of all the needs of our patients under one roof. Whether you require tooth removal and replacement or a dental crown due to decay, we are here to serve you with exceptional and prompt dentistry.

We invite you to contact our Auckland dental practice for a consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Those seeking a restorative solution for their teeth may consider a dental crown or bridge. Dr Juliane is a crown and bridge expert who can ensure your restorations mimic the organic function and appearance of natural teeth.

What Are Dental Crowns and Bridges?

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped covering that is commonly crafted from porcelain or ceramic. Replacing the enamel layer of the tooth, your dentist bonds the crown to a healthy, rooted tooth to strengthen and protect it.

A dental bridge is a device we sometimes use to replace missing teeth in a person's smile. A bridge can replace one or more bordering teeth in the upper or lower arch.

When Are Crowns and Bridges Used Together?

A person can wear a crown independently, without a bridge. However, a bridge consists of dental crowns, as these are the prosthetics that replace the missing tooth or teeth.

On a dental bridge, the crowns cover two adjacent teeth, which are called abutments. The centre section of the bridge is called a pontic, which is a false tooth fabricated to unify your smile.

We ensure your crown or bridge matches your natural teeth's exact size, shape, and shade. Not only does this promote a perfect fit, but it also creates a seamless, harmonious grin.

Our dental crowns and bridges are of the highest quality, so they are not bulky, ill-fitting or heavy in a patient's mouth. It's our goal to make sure your dental bridge looks, feels and functions just like natural teeth.

We invite you to contact our Auckland dental practice to book your crown or bridge consult.
