Dr Juliane Smith, BDS Dental Surgeon
Principal Dentist
Juliane Eiko Smith was born and raised in Brazil, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from the renowned University of Sao Paulo–USP. Upon completing her graduation, she proceeded with post-graduate studies in the area of dental implants.
Juliane has been practicing dentistry for close to 20 years. She worked and owned her own dental practice in Brazil for ten years before the beauty of New Zealand caught her eye on a visit to the shores. After her visit, she relocated permanently.
Juliane has a strong focus in general and cosmetic dentistry and extensive experience with placing dental implants. She enjoys helping patients restore their smiles.
Her patients recognize her as having a kind and caring nature, making them feel comfortable and at ease during their dental visits. She provides the best care possible for every patient.
Dr Carol Freitas, DDS, MSc, PhD in Restorative Dentistry
Associate Dentist
Carol Freitas is a friendly and dedicated general and cosmetic dentist based in NZ. Originally from Brazil, Carol Freitas started her career in 2001 when she graduated as Bachelor of Dental Surgery in Brazil. In 2007 she had the opportunity to undergo Masters at the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil) and got her PhD in Restorative Dentistry in 2010 also at the University of Sao Paulo.
Carol’s scope of expertise encompasses such procedures as cosmetic fillings, restorative crowns and bridge treatments, teeth whitening, tooth extractions, periodontal surgeries and myofunctional treatment.
Combined to her clinical experience, Carol has a strong background having worked as a lecturer at the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil) and the University of Sydney (Australia).
Carol makes every effort to stay on top of current developments in dentistry. To that end, she maintains the highest levels of accreditation and takes advantage of ongoing education.
Carol’s favorite hobby is travelling. She also loves outdoor activities, enjoying new adventures and visiting new places.
Liza Serfontein
Oral Health Therapist
Originally from South Africa, Liza is a kind and skilled oral health therapist who works with children and adults at Urban Dental Studio. She entered the dental industry in 2017 as an inexperienced dental assistant but quickly realized caring for patients' smiles was her calling.
Inspired by Dr Juliane's passion for dentistry and patient care, Liza pursued her career in oral health therapy. She earned her Bachelor of Health Science in Oral Health from the Auckland University of Technology. After her training, she began caring for each patient's oral health needs as our Oral Health Therapist.
Liza's favourite aspect of providing oral health care is helping patients feel more comfortable during their visits. It's one of her goals to ensure patients leave with a broad smile on their faces and feel excited to return for another visit in the future.
Liza lives on a lifestyle property with her pet lamb Ollie. Surrounded by stunning landscape and flora, Liza and Ollie spend much of their time enjoying the outdoors.
Adriana Monaco
Dental Assistant
Adriana is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and graduated from Nova Friburgo Dental School in 1999 as a dentist. Since 2017, Adriana has served as a dental assistant to Dr Juliane and began at Urban Dental Studio in June 2021. As a dental assistant, Adriana helps patients attain healthy smiles and supports their oral health needs. Adriana loves spending time at the beach, soaking up the sun and exploring the outdoors in her free time.
Bianca Souza
Dental Assistant
Bianca is originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil and has a degree in pharmacy. Bianca moved to New Zealand in 2019 and became a Dental Assistant in 2023.
Bianca loves photography and watching series in her free time.
Bianca's passions is helping our patients feel at ease with her naturally gentle caring nature.
Kisane Iles
Front Office Co-ordinator
Kisane has been in the dental industry since 2004 and was born and raised right here in New Zealand. Her vast experience helps provide patients with a genuinely caring experience. She feels greatly rewarded to change peoples perception of the dental industry and feel comfortable when visiting.
Kisane has two young sons who keep her and her husband busy at home. She loves leaving the city to see family who live out of town and also catching up with friends.
She has a great passion for animals and has a sweet SPCA kitty who completes our family.
At the front office Kisane loves helping our patients overcome their dental phobia to not only return to the clinic, but share their experience with others :)
